Aluminum screw posts are also called Chicago screws or Chicago screw posts. They are great for binding all types of products. Screw post can be used for swatches, photo albums, scripts, wine lists, menus, and much more. Screw posts by their nature allow the bound product to be easily updated.
They can even be expanded with the use of screwpost extensions. Screwposts are available brass and aluminum.
Other type of screwpost  is the steel screw post which is recommended for use as an industrial fastener. Steel Screw Posts have a more polished appearance and are heavier duty than our aluminum screw posts. Loose-leaf rings also called hinged split rings or hinged snap rings are great for binding large groups of paper, swatches, and many other items quickly and easily at an affordable cost.

Thread Insert / Self-Tapping Insert


thread insert also known as a threaded bushing which is a fastener element that is inserted into an object to add a threaded hole. They may be used to repair a stripped threaded hole, provide a durable threaded hole in a soft material and place a thread on a material too thin to accept it, mold or cast threads into a workpiece thereby eliminating a machining operation, or simplify changeover from unified to metric threads or vice versa.
Self Tapping Inserts (also known as self threaded inserts or Ensats) are cylindrical metal bushings with internal and external threads and are specially designed to cut their own threads as they are being driven into a drilled hole. They provide permanent wear-resistant threads in a wide range of materials, from tough to tap, high strength steels to brittle plastics.
The thread cutting action is performed by the cutting slots on the insert. By tapping its own thread, the self tapping insert eliminates the need for pre-tapped holes.

PEM nut / Self-Clinching Nut


PEM nut is a threaded fastener or stand-off that is attached to sheet of metal. They are attached by being pressed with great force so that the end of the nut is expanded in order to stay locked and clinched into the sheet metal
PEM nut also known  as Self-clinching whcih is an internally threaded fastener, when pressed into ductile metal, displaces the host material around the mounting hole, causing it to cold flow into a specially designed annular recess in the shank of the fastener. A serrated clinching ring prevents the fastener from rotating in the host material once it have been properly inserted. Thus a PEM nut becomes a permanent part of the host material offering strong, load bearing threads in relatively thin sheets of metal.  The generic term for this type of fastener is "self-clinching nut".

Advantage of Self-Clinching parts:
  • Provide strong threads in metal as thin as 0.20"/.51MM
  • Maybe installed using any parallel acting squeezing force.
  • Provide high pushout and torque-out resistance
  • Do not require special hole preparation, such as chamfering and deburring.
  • Reverse side of metal sheet remains flush.
  • No retapping necessary after application

CAGE NUT


Cage nut can be assembled easily into position without the need for special tools and it is consists of a square nut in a spring steel cage which wraps around the nut. The cage has two wings that when compressed allow the cage to be inserted into the square holes in equipment racks, and while released hold the nut in position behind the hole.
Using cage nuts mounted in square holes provides several benefits over threaded holes directly in the cage. First, one has the flexibility to choose the size of nuts and bolts at a time after the cage is installed.  Second, it is easy to  replace. Third, this can allow for a better strength-to-weight ratio, as only the nuts need to be made of a strong material suitable for threading. (reference by wikipedia.)

Blind Rivet

Blind rivets  referred to as pop rivets, are tubular and supplied with a mandrel through the center. The rivet assembly is inserted into a hole drilled through the parts to be joined and a specially designed tool is used to draw the mandrel into the rivet. This expands the blind end of the rivet and then the mandrel snaps off. These types of blind rivets have non-locking mandrels and are sometimes avoided for critical structural joints because the mandrels may fall out, due to vibration or other reasons, leaving a hollow rivet that will have a significantly lower load carrying capability than solid rivets. Furthermore, because of the mandrel they are more prone to failure from corrosion and vibration. Unlike solid rivets, blind rivets can be inserted and fully installed in a joint from only one side of a part or structure, "blind" to the opposite side.

Blind Rivets are available in flat head, countersunk head, and modified flush head with standard diameters of 1/8, 5/32 and 3/16 inch. Blind rivets are made from soft aluminum alloy, steel (including stainless steel), copper, and Monel.

Rivet


rivet is metallic pin with ahead, used for uniting two plates or pieces of material together, by passing it through them and then beating or pressing down the point so that it shall spread out and for masecond head; apin orbolt headed or clinched at both ends.
 Before being installed a rivet consists of a smooth cylindrical shaft with a head on one end. The end opposite the head is called the back-tail. On installation the rivet is placed in a punched or drilled hole, and the tail is upset or bucked, so that it expands to about 1.5 times the original shaft diameter, holding the rivet in place. To distinguish between the two ends of the rivet, the original head is called the factory head and the deformed end is called the shop head or buck-tail.
Because there is effectively a head on each end of an installed rivet, it can support tension loads, however it is much more capable of supporting shear loads. Bolts and screws are better suited for tension applications.
Fastenings used in traditional wooden boat building, like copper nails and clinch bolts which work on the same principle as the rivet but were in use long before the term rivet came about and they are usually classified among the nails and bolts respectively.
